A half-century each by former India opener Madhuri Meheta and Madhusmita Behera powered Odisha to a 103-run thumping win over Baroda in their Plate-A Senior Women One-day match at Vijayawada today.
In reply to Odisha’s imposing total of 231, Baroda were restricted to 128 for nine. Madhuri and captain Madhusmita gave Odisha a flying start, compiling 139 runs for the opening wicket. Meheta smashed a 126-ball 89, which included 10 fours and one six, while Madhusmita made 61 off 81 balls, hitting 11 boundaries.
Among other notable Odisha performers, wicket-keeper Kadambini Mohakud contributed 36 runs, while bowler J Behera bagged three wickets for nine runs.
This was the second straight win for Odisha, who earlier crushed Madhya Pradesh by five wickets two days ago. They will next meet Jharkhand on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Haryana beat Jammu & Kashmir by two wickets at Sunshine ground and Gujarat beat Goa by 75 runs at Nimpur ground in two other matches of the day, hosted by Odisha Cricket Association.
